Artebration

Artebration at Front Street Market, April 21, 2024 – Summary

Our first event was a great success despite the chilly weather and the modest crowd. We are truly grateful to everyone who attended. The positive feedback on our merchandise was incredibly rewarding, as it was the main goal of the event. Although I felt nervous at the beginning, that’s a normal reaction to such an undertaking. I recall when I used to create jewelry and participate in events, I always experienced those jitters. However, when someone showed interest in purchasing my creations, it never failed to bring a smile to my face. I don’t really consider myself an “artist” – the term sounds too grandiose. I much prefer the title “creator.” When you’re a creator, self-doubt is inevitable – is it good enough? Have I priced it appropriately? Will people like it? Fortunately, this time, the answer was a resounding “yes.”

As always it’s such a surprise to see what sells and what doesn’t. I managed to sell some jewelry, mugs, quilled pieces, and layered pieces, which is great! It’s interesting that the pyramids didn’t sell, but I think people didn’t realize they were actually boxes. It’s heartwarming to know that a couple of little boys loved them and wanted to learn how to make them. Although the Art Deco quilled lady didn’t sell, I’m optimistic that she’ll find a home at some point. Now comes the big question – should I try another show? Maybe another Front Street one; I believe that’s the right type of show for my items.

So this is the first blog post on the website, and I figured I’d give you a quick summary of the inaugural show.
